Replacement Timbren Rubber Independent Suspension Kit for Older Trailer
Question:
Im replacing my axle and able to get the correct load capacity and spring center but the shaft is 4 inches longer than the existing one. I have looked over the complete internet and no one makes one like the one I have. My trailer is 41 years old but in great shape. The wheel bearing fell apart and the back race is welded to the spindle. Plus, I would like to add the ez-lube spindles and hubs. Is it okay to use this axle and have my wheels extend out a couple more inches on each side? Thanks for your help.

A better option for your older trailer that needs a new axle/suspension is a Timbren axle-less suspension kit that can bolt (or weld) on to the trailer frame. These can offer benefits including reduced overall weight and increased ground clearance. There is no easier way to give your trailer a fully independent suspension!
We offer these kits in various weight ratings and both with and without hubs, brakes, etc. Please refer to the linked page to see all such Timbren axle-less suspension kits. For instance, kit # A35RS545 is rated for 3500-lbs and includes straight EZ-Lube spindles and idler hubs with the popular 5-on-4-1/2-inch wheel bolt pattern. We also have kits that include drums and electric brakes, such as 3500-lb-rated kit # A35RD545E. Please refer to the linked video for more details.
All kits that include hubs also come with bearings, races, seals, etc.
Some trailer frames may require a bit or reinforcement or you can simply use 2-inch steel tubing through the hole on each suspension unit to provide the reinforcement.
