Front-Mount Hitch Installation on 2003 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

Im looking for a hitch receiver just like the Curt 31198 style but where the bolt holes are 31inch apart. I believe the bolt holes on the 31198 are almost 39inch apart. Trying to get something to work as a front receiver for my 2003 4Runner.

Most of the hitches we sell are custom-fit items, meaning that they are designed and intended for only specific vehicles, meaning certain makes, model years and styles. Although we do offer multi-fit hitches for RVs the hitches we have for vehicles like your 2003 Toyota 4Runner are custom-fit.

We do not show a fit for a front hitch for your vehicle. I checked directly with both Curt and Draw-Tite, our two main hitch suppliers, and neither offers a front-mount hitch for your vehicle.

Your best option then is to see if one of the universal-fit RV hitches will fit your frame rails. Many of these hitches fit a range of frame sizes, such as Curt # 13703. All are shown on the linked page.
I also suggest checking with Toyota (using your 4Runner's VIN) to find out if they consider a front hitch installation to be safe on this specific vehicle.
