Can 15 inch Wheels be Used with a 2,000-lb Trailer Axle

Question:

On most of your related posts, its suggested that 15 inch tires are not good for 2000lbs axles, and on your website Dexter 8-258BTUC1 there are 2000lbs hubs that are rated for 13-15 inch tires

It doesn't necessarily have to do with the axle-to-wheel size as much as it does the hub-to-wheel size. Most, but not all, hubs rated for a 2,000-lb axle are compatible with smaller wheel and usually have an 8" - 12" wheel range. As you found, sometimes that is not always the case. The part # 8-258BTUC1 that you referenced is compatible with 13" - 15" wheels that have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

If this hub fits your axle and your wheel is compatible with it then you can definitely use 15 inch wheels on a 2,000-lb axle.
