Hitch Mounted Bike Racks For Carrying 4 Bikes and Removing Any of the 4 Without Removing the Others

Question:

Im looking for a rack that can hold four bikes with both the front and rear tires staying on the bike. I also need to be able to remove bike 2, 3, or 4 without removing the bikes in front of it. My wife and I will be doing a 2 person relay for an endurance race. Furnace Creek 508 We will bringing 4 bikes, and we need to be able to transition from one to the next quickly. What race or racks do feel will meet our needs? Thanks for your help.

I believe the Thule T2 Pro 4 Bike Platform System, item # TH9034-9036XTS, that you selected would be a good choice, you will need to keep in mind that when removing bikes that are between two others the pedals may be a hindrance, but the handle bars would be loaded from opposite sides so they should not be a problem. When you raise the ratcheting hook on each bike the hook lies forward and will not significantly affect loading or unloading a bike.

Two other racks you might want to consider are the Yakima Holdup 4 Bike Rack with Wheel Mount Cradles, item # Y02443-2, and the Kuat NV 2.0 4 Bike Carrier, item # NV22G-NA22G. Any of these bike racks would be the best style for the relay race you are undertaking.

All of the above mentioned racks will require a 2 inch receiver hitch that has a tongue weight capable of handling the weight of the bikes and bike rack when installed.
