Troubleshooting Tekonsha Brake Controller Faulty Ground Error

Question:

My brake controller shows faulty ground when not hooked to trailer, the controller is grounded directly to the negitive side of the battery, this is an intermediate thing.Prodgey brake controller

I recommend grounding your Tekonsha Brake Controller directly to the frame where the battery's negative terminal is grounded. You will be sure to clear up any grounding issue anywhere on your vehicle by using that location. That will be the ground for your entire vehicle, so there won't be any issue as long as that connection is bare metal to metal and free of corrosion.

It also could be that you have a bad wire running to your battery's negative terminal and when your trailer is connected it is grounded well enough to compensate for the issue.
