Whenever you are installing a connector on either a tow vehicle or a trailer, it is always best to start off by testing the wires to make sure that they are lined up correctly with each other. I have attached a picture showing what the typical wire colors are for each function, but to verify you can use a Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to test the wires on your tow vehicle, and a 12V battery to test the wiring on your trailer.
Depending on the manufacturer of your vehicle the blue wire could be a variety of functions. I recommend testing it to see what it need to be run to.
If you test your setup and everything is wired correctly but you are still having issues let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
