The Rhino-Rack Ski and Fishing Rod Carrier # RR572 would be a great choice to carry your surf rods. It clamps on to round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars and has a push-button release so you can open it easily.

Yes, the Rhino-Rack Ski and Fishing Rod Carrier #RR572 that you referenced does fit the Whispbar crossbars you have. The picture I attached shows the carrier installed on a similar set of aero crossbars.

Hey Tim! Yes, the Rhino-Rack Ski and Fishing Rod Carrier #RR572 will fit the older Thule square crossbars. While this kit does come with T-Slot hardware, it also has the clamps which is what you'll use for the square crossbars.
