E-Bike Rack Recommendation for Pedego Interceptor Electric Bike

Question:

I have a smaller hitch 1 1/4 inch square mount instead of 2 inch. Will this HLY84FR work with this size hitch?

E-bikes are becoming more popular every day, so the bike rack options are increasing just as rapidly. We've got a couple solutions that will work for your needs, but the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE that you mentioned, # HLY84FR will not fit in your 1-1/4" hitch receiver.

Instead, what you need is part # HLY74FR. It's essentially the same bike rack, but it's designed to fit both an 1-1/4" hitch, (Class II only) as well as a 2" hitch (Class III). It will easily accommodate your Pedego Interceptor, which from my research, has standard width tires, weighs between 50-59 lbs, and has a wheelbase between 45-48 inches (depending on the options you choose).

If you do happen to have a Class I, 1-1/4" hitch, then another solution is the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Platform Rack, # TH903202, which will work on Class I, II and III hitches, and can carry 2 electric bikes weighing up to 65 lbs each. Thule went all out with this rack, including padded clamps on the adjustable arms, tilt function for access to cargo area, tool-free installation, and lightweight aluminum construction. Both of the rack comes with integrated locks and fold up for compact storage.

Note that in order to use the Hollywood Racks SportRider SE # HLY74FR you would need to use a bike adapter bar like the # HRBA-PRO to accommodate for the aggressive step through frame on the bike. The clamping design of the Thule EasyFold XT is designed for step through frames, so you would not need an separate adapter bar for it.

For your Pedego Interceptor bikes the best rack available is the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. Its adjustable clamps will easily attach to the step-thru frames, it has more than enough capacity for both the bikes, and the integrated ramp will help a ton with loading/unloading.
