Recommended Trailer Tires for 18 Foot Enclosed Snowmobile Trailer
Question:
I have an aluminum 18foot enclosed snowmobile trailer with 2-2200lbs axles. On the plate it specs the trailer to have 13inch tires on it. Currently there are 205/75/14s on it. Would I be able to put 205/75/15s onto it? What are the things to look for? Thanks

To put larger wheels and tires on your snowmobile trailer like the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # LHAW121, you will want to look at the bolt pattern and the inflated diameter of the tire. The tire will need to have enough room for the suspension system to work, so you will need to make sure there is the ability to move 2-1/2 inches vertically to account for deflection.
You want to make sure you load your trailer based on the 2200 lb capacity of each axle and not on the higher rated capacity of the tires and wheels. The weakest part of your system is what will give you your maximum capacity.
This change will raise the height of your trailer slightly, so I recommend you also consider the new coupler height if you make this change for proper level towing.
