Can Air Bags be Installed on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with Curt Gooseneck C60734

Question:

My truck is a 2500 4 wheel drive 2001 Dodge Cummins with a C60734 Goose neck hitch already installed. I need to know which air bags will work with that hitch.

The upper brackets for Firestone air bags # F2220 bolt through the frame but the frame brackets for Curt gooseneck hitch # C60734 do not have holes in them to accommodate this so this particular set up will not work together.

If you could tell me if your Ram is a 1500, 2500, or 3500 as well as if it is 2- or 4-wheel drive, and if you already have the gooseneck hitch or air bags (or both or neither) I can see if we have some combination that will work for you.

Thank you for the additional information. I do have a solution but the problem with the air bags that fit your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 have upper brackets that mount to the outside of the frame and bolt through it. The frame brackets for the gooseneck hitch are already occupying the space needed by the upper air bag brackets so even if you drilled through the gooseneck frame brackets the air bags would be out of alignment vertically and the warranties on the hitch and air bags would be void. There are other options though such as SuperSprings # SSA25 which will prevent rear end sagging and reduce sway. These mount to the bottoms of the frame rails and engage with the axle sooner than factory bump stops. And a benefit that both of these systems share is no maintenance. Once installed you won't have to do anything with them again.
