If you have the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 installed properly and it is functioning normally, then it will be a bit hot after you are towing - especially if it was a bigger trailer. My contact at Tekonsha informed me that there is a metal aluminum plate on the bottom that actually works as a heatsink to keep it from overheating. It should cool down after the trailer is unplugged and it is not being used.
If it gets hot and you do not have a trailer connected or you have been parked for awhile then you could potentially have something wired incorrectly.
Let me know which case it is and I can help you troubleshoot if need be.
