Ford LED Lighted Vehicle Emblem Dims When Running Lights Are Active

Question:

I have the RP86620 lighted emblem and have run into a problem. My F-150 has dual-bulb tail lights, each with the same three wires ground, running, and combination brake/turn. I have tapped into the taillight running light, low illumination wire on one of the bulb connectors on one side, and the brake/turn wire on the other bulb. I know I need to use the little adapter box to prevent the emblem from blinking with the turn signal on that side but that's not my problem. The emblem lights up bright on brake, and blinks on turn as I would expect but it will only light up low brightness running.

The Ford LED Lighted Vehicle Emblem part # RP86620 has two levels of illumination, low illumination and high illumination. The red lights remain set at low illumination when your vehicle's tail lights are on. When you activate your brakes or turn on your hazard lights, the LEDs burn brighter to draw attention to your vehicle.

Therefore, I believe you have the emblem installed correctly and it is working as designed.
