Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Not Sending a Signal With the Trailer Connected and Not Moving
Question:
I purchased a Tekonsha P3 brake controller for my 2012 Nissan Titan with factory 7 way max tow package already installed. Additionally I purchased the Nissan/Infiniti adapter to plug into my truck. After installing everything per the instructions, and connecting the trailer Im not getting any signal sent back to the brakes for application. Ive got good power to the unit, and all the lights, etc. work on the trailer... but no brakes. With the trailer connected and not moving... Ill apply the brakes and get 0.0 output on the brake controller. Help please!

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is an excellent brake controller choice. It is a proportional brake controller that also uses inertia to help determine when to apply the brakes on your trailer. Because of this, if you are not moving then your brakes will not activate when the brake pedal in your 2012 Nissan Titan is pressed.
What you will want to do is set the P3 to the highest setting and then use the manual override lever to activate the brakes. This will send the brake signal to the brakes without the brake pedal being pressed as it is used for emergency stopping situations. Once you use the manual override you should notice the brakes on your trailer activating.
To adjust the braking strength you will want to set the P3 power to 6.0 and then drive 25 mph on a dry, level place and then fully apply the manual override lever. If the trailer brakes lock up then you will want to turn the power down but if the braking was not strong enough you will want to turn the power up. Repeat this process as often as necessary until the brakes are calibrated like you want them to be.
