Determining Correct Replacement Bearing

Question:

I have a 1994 boat trailer and want to replace bearings, etc. The numbers on the bearings are: l44848 . I dont see a reference for that PN. I discussed this with Pat and we ordered Bearing Kit, L44649 Inner/Outer Bearings, 10-60 Seal. Im hoping this will work. The more I read the more concerned I get. I asked to talk to maintenance guys but she didnt want to bother them apparently. Will this work as Im wanting to verify before shipment! Thanks

Expert Reply:

Since your bearing L44848 is not a typical bearing number the best way to know what replacement bearing will work is to use a digital caliper and measure the inner and outer diameters of your bearings and grease seal. You can measure the inner parts by measuring the B, C, and D locations of your spindle in the attached picture. You will then just need to measure the corresponding locations on your hub for the outer diameter measurement.

Once you find those measurements you can either filter through the linked page of bearings or you can let me know what you find, and I can find a replacement for you.
