Compatibility of Roadmaster Black Hawk Tow Bar with Curt Dual Hitch Receiver  

Question:

Does the use of the Curt dual receiver impact safety issues when being used with a Roadmaster Black Hawk tow bar pulling a 2003 Honda CRV? This is all attached to a class A motor home. I was just concerned that extending the tow bar out 5 inches or whatever it is will jeopardize safety.

The Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, 8" Extension # D-192 is made for use with a tow bar like the Roadmaster Black Hawk 2 # RM-422. The adapter will decrease the tongue weight rating of the trailer hitch on your RV by 50%, but flat towing does not take much tongue weight, so the only safety concern is if the accessory in the top receiver is within the 50% reduced tongue weight of the trailer hitch on your RV.

I recommend using hitch locks like # e98882 to secure these parts and these locks can be keyed alike.
