Brake Controller Recommendation for Trailer with 8 Brake Assemblies

Question:

Jameson, You recommended the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Item # 90885. I am installing this on a 1974 Ford F600, will this controller work OK on this older truck?

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

This controller is designed for use with up to 8 brake assemblies like what you mentioned as well.

Yes, the P2 part # 90885 would work great on your truck. As long as the vehicle uses a 12 volt power system (yours does), this controller will basically always be the best option. The only other controller that I'd recommend considering is the P3 part # 90195 which is basically the "Cadillac" version of the P2. Functionally they work the exact same as they are internally the same controller, but this one has a more comprehensive screen, the ability to change screen colors, and if you towed several vehicles you can save different settings based on the different trailers. But if you have one trailer and want a "set it and forget it" type experience the P2 is the better option.
