Electric Radiator Pusher Fan for a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer with 4.2 Liter Inline 6

Question:

I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer with a 4.2 My radiator fan clutch does not engage, so the engine runs hot after slowing to an idle, unless I increase engine speed. Im thinking of doing away with it altogether and adding an electric fan. However, I use it for towing, so maybe adding an electric fan as a pusher only would be a better option. If the electric fan by itself would not be sufficient, then I would like to install the pusher now, and then fix the main fan later, as replacing both at the same time is not in the budget. However, if the electric fan would be sufficient by itself, then I might as well just do away with the clutch fan altogether. What are your recommendations, both for what would be the best installation plan and which fan would be the best to use. Thanks!

Installing an electric pusher fan on your 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer will ensure it gets the optimum cooling all the time, even when towing. As long as the electric fan is large enough it can replace the need for a belt-driven fan. By large I mean the amount of air the fan can move.

Derale 16" Dyno-Cool Straight-Blade Electric Fan with Thermostat Control - 1,550 CFM Item # D16316 can move air at a rate of 1,550 cubic feet per minute which is pretty good and most likely better than the belt-driven fan.
