Trailer Brake Controller and Wiring for 2007 Audi A4 Avant Quattro

Question:

I have a 2007 Audi A4 Avant Quattro with 2.0T inline4 engine. It has a 4-pole flat connector for my utility and kayak trailers, and it works well. I'm considering the purchase of a T@B travel trailer with electric brakes and the standard 7-blade round connector. Having functioning trailer brakes on the T@B is a requirement. What do you suggest for making the transition between the two connectors so that I have those brakes, and what brake controller do you suggest? Trailer weight is 2,200-2,800 lbs loaded.

To install a brake controller on your 2007 Audi A4 Avant Quattro you would need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.

Since you already have a 4-flat connector, you wouldn't need anything else; this kit comes with a 4 pole to 7 pole adapter to make the transition you asked about. Then for a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P2 # 90885.

This is a proportional brake controller, so when you activate the brakes on your Audi, the trailer's brakes will activate at the same time and with the same power. It has an LED display, three boost levels, continuous diagnostic checks and safeguards to prevent your trailer brakes from overheating and defend against shorts.
