Replacement 7-Way Connector For 2003 Dodge Dakota

Question:

Wanting to replace the7 blade connector. Because factory harness plug in back of connector is bad. But the harness has 8 wires going in to the back plug. Do you have a color code wiring diagram showing 8 wires? Thanks

For just a replacement 7-Way connector, I recommend the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole # PK12-707E. You will just need to splice in you Dakota's existing wiring to the appropriate locations on the connector.

In order to determine the wire functions on your vehicle, I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. You can have a buddy sit in the driver seat to activate each function on the vehicle while you test the wires that you mentioned. This is the most accurate way to test for function, as going by wire colors can be unreliable since manufacturers tend to change up the colors periodically. I was unable to find a wiring diagram for your 2003 Dodge Dakota that shows what the 8th wire might be used for.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this connector that you can also check out.
