Could Bike Install Horizontally on Surco Ladder Rack

Question:

I see where on this in the photos the bikes are mounted vertically. Can a small bike be mounted horizontally to this rack as I have a swing away spare tire carrier that may interfere with a vertical mount. Also if the bike is a down tube style bike do I need to add a bar to insure its level? Thanks

There's really no reason you couldn't mount a bike horizontally on the Surco Ladder rack part # SP501BR as it is set up just like a standard hanging bike rack.

Since you said the bike is small you are going to want an adapter bar though like part # UB01 to attach to the seat post and steering stem as that's the only way it will fit the bike frame. Check out the install vid I attached.
