Troubleshooting Brake Controller Installed in 2005 Chevy Silverado that Only Works w Override Lever

Question:

The brake controller worked for years then noticed last tow no trailer braking with pedal depressed.. Checked power with pedal depressed 0 volts. manual brakeslider work normally. Brake light on truck work normally. Confirmed with another known good trailer, same result. Removed adapter cable from truck to controller and checked for power, 0 volts with pedal depressed. Checked fuses. What am I missing?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Since your tow vehicle is a Chevy truck your problem is going to be a blown third brake light fuse. When the brake controllers installed in a Chevy truck stop working only with the brake pedal it's because the third brake light fuse is blown and that circuit also goes to the brake controller wiring.
