Recommended Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connection for 2006 Toyota Tacoma with 4 Pole Wiring
Question:
I have a 2006 Tacoma with a 4-pin wiring already installed. We recently acquired a camper that has a 7 pin connector. What is the best method for adding a 7 pin hook up?

For your 2006 Toyota Tacoma, you simply need the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to give you the functional 7-way on your vehicle. This will come with all the connectors, circuit breakers, and wiring you need to connect a brake controller and have the functions of a 7-way to be compatible with your camper with 7 pin connector.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This brake controller is proportional which means that the brakes on your camping trailer will be applied at the same time and with the same amount of pressure you use at your brake pedal in your Tacoma. This controller has easy to understand functions and presets and the LCD screen makes diagnostics easy to understand. This controller will work well with your truck and this wiring kit.
