Replacement H78-15 Sized Tires on Old Travel Trailer with 15 by 5-1/2 Inch Rims

Question:

I am getting a 1987 Sunline Seville travel trailer which currently has H78-15BLR tires on 15 x 5.5 rims. The GVW is 6,440 3,220 per axle. The tires need to be replaced before moving. What is the best fit for these rims and load?

Normally I would recommend using 225/75-15 sized tires to replace your H78-15s but since your rims are only 5-1/2 inch wide you'll need 205/75-15 instead. Unless you want to replace the rims too. If you do let me know your bolt pattern and style of rim and I can make a recommendation for a wheel and tire combo.

If you want to keep your same rims I recommend Provider # TTWTRTM2057515C for replacement tires. They have a maximum weight capacity of 1,820 pounds each (3,640 pounds per axle) at 50 psi. They also have an 81 mph maximum speed rating which is higher than a lot of other tires.

I've included a video on the tires as well as some articles you may find helpful.
