Replacement Hitch Bolt Size for Thule Parkway Bike Rack

Question:

I have a Thule 1.25inch hitch - 4 bike rack I dont know the model number however based on what I saw on internet I believe is TH957. I have misplaced the hitch bolt which was full threaded. I tried 1/2inch * 2inch full threaded bolt from homedepot but the width was too much, they did not have any in metric. From your website I think a 12mm * 40mm bolt is the right size but I need a full threaded bolt. The Item # 908-1240-54 from your website is not full threaded and another Item # 7520990001 shows that it contains hitch bolt for TH957 but it doesnt give me the size. Please advise.

I checked with my contact at Thule and verified that the Thule replacement hitch bolt you are looking for is part # 908-1240-54. It is a 12 x 40mm hex bolt with a property class of 8.8. It should be installed with M12 washer, # 951-1224-54, and M12 lock washer, # 956122159, which are sold separately.

For convenience, you may just want to replace the entire hardware kit for your Thule Parkway by ordering # 7520990001.

Thule does not recommend that you purchase this bolt or any Thule replacement hardware at a local hardware store for safety reasons. To maintain proper safety and keep your warranty valid, all replacement parts should be purchased from Thule. You can be confident that all Thule replacement parts sold at etrailer.com are supplied by Thule.

@ChrisR this setup will work with the Trailway 959 correct? I lost the original hardware - but the original hardware included a locking nut.
