Recommendation for Replacing Bargman L-300 Locking Latch

Question:

I believe the existing door lock is a Bargman L300. The dead bolt is a separate piece. Will the L3980 work as a replacement and do I need to modify it somehow? IN other words would it work in the same mounting postion and slot?

The Bargman L-300 lock is no longer manufactured so a direct replacement lock is not available.

The Redline Full Size Locking Steel Flush Door Latch # L3980 that you referenced has a similar handle lock design and should work nicely as a replacement. It will mount in a 3-3/8 inch x 4-5/8 inch hole with one way screws or pop rivets. I recommend taking a quick measurement on your existing mounting hole to see if this will fit right in. Also keep in mind that the handle will work on doors up to 1-1/16 inches thick.

I have also included a short video review on this product that you can check out.
