How to Wire the Voyager Brake Controller to the Factory Wiring Harness on a 2001 Chevrolet Truck

Question:

I have a 2001 chevy silverado. With factory plug that came with truck. After I plug the end into the plug under dash. On mine there are 6 or 8 wires at end instead of a plug and only the 4 wires coming out of the back of the brake box. How and what colors do I hook up to Factory plug to make the 9030 box work with my factory supplied plug?? Thanx.

The wires on the OEM connector that was supplied with your 2001 Chevy Silverado should be marked for function, if not, I believe I can help. Your pickup will use the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter, item # 3025-S, and the wires for the brake controller will be in the same location on your OEM connector.

With the OEM connector positioned with the locking tab up and facing away from you, the wires you need to connect to will be as follows.

The blue wire should be connected to the wire in the top left corner, the black wire should be connected to the wire in the middle left location, the red wire should be connected to the wire in the bottom left corner and the white wire should be connected to the wire in the bottom right location.

We have an article on brake controller wiring for the 1999 to 2006 Chevrolet trucks that should be very helpful also.
