Sidewinder Pin Box Recommendation to Give More Clearance Between Cab and Trailer

I presently have a slide-back hitch because of short bed. It has hung up twice and a lot of damage. Would like help with maybe a ball instead. Need discussion. 2014 dodge 6.7 turbo diesel, crew cab short bed. Towing a 2015 forest river wildcat Max, 26 ft. Paulette

Going to a gooseneck ball will give you even less clearance that what you have and will cause cab/trailer overhang interference.

You may be interested in going to a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders move the pivot point back for the pin box 22-1/2 inches which gives you plenty of clearance for short bed trucks. You wouldn't have to use a slider hitch either.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
