Recommended System for Better Sway Control of 30 Foot Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 F150 RWD and tow a 30foot travel trailer. I am experiencing some trailer sway at speeds over 65 and when behind passed by traffic. I have read several articles suggesting that it has something to do with the 2016 model year. The trailer is approximately 7,500 lbs and well below the limits of the truck. I have a WDH with a friction sway bar. Will this product help eliminate the sway? If so which model would you recommend and how do you determine which spacer to use when setting it up?

The RoadActive Suspension Kit # RAS3611-B will help with the vehicle side of things by assisting with the rear suspension which will have some effect on the ride of the trailer.

The much bigger issue with sway is that your trailer is very long. Even with a weight distribution system and a friction sway bar, you will have sway issues because for trailers over 26 feet, they recommend 2 friction sway bars. I've attached an article to help.

I highly recommend that you look into the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # RP66084 for your trailer length and weight. The trailer is not heavy, but the total tongue weight is what you want to consider which is the total loaded tongue weight of the trailer as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck. I believe this is the best system for you because it will actively fight sway with the dual cam system and hot rolled spring bars to keep your 30 foot trailer from sway due to crosswinds or passing motorists. This system uses serrated washers instead of stacking to make adjustments for level towing much easier.

Both the RoadActive Suspension and the Reese Straight-line systems mechanically assist. Together they would work great, but if you need to choose, I recommend the weight distribution system for your trailer sway to be the greater help.
