How to Install the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
Hello: researching for proper hitch placement 2013 DOdge Ram 2500 HD 4x4 crew cab with 6foot 4 inch box and Keystone Challenger CH29RKP07 5th wheel. Should the pin be directly above the axle or set back slightly while maintaining approx. 6inch between the bed rails and trail to help improve low speed maneuvering. The hitch model # is RVK3500 Thanks

To use the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3500 in the bed of your 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 you will first need to have a B&W Gooseneck Hitch, like part # BWGNRK1313 or part # BWGNRK1308, installed on your truck. The Companion will simply drop into the gooseneck hitch ball receiver in whichever gooseneck hitch you have. This will put your 5th wheel hitch at the proper place of directly above or slightly forward (towards the cab) of your rear axle.
The part # BWRVK3500 that you referenced is the non-sliding version of this 5th wheel hitch. Since you have a 6 foot bed on your Ram it is recommend to go with a sliding 5th wheel hitch due to the limited cab clearance on tight turns. Although you can make a non-sliding 5th wheel hitch work if you are a skilled enough driver, I recommend using the sliding version of the Companion instead. This can be found listed as part # BWRVK3400-5W on our site.
If you do not already have a 7-Way connector in the bed of your Ram then I recommend installing the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410 to make connecting and disconnecting the wiring on your trailer easier.
