How to Install Prodigy P3 Brake Controller to a 2009 Acura MDX with a Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2009 ACURA MDX with a dealer installed factory tow hitch and 4 and 7 pin outlets on the hitch. I want to buy a Prodigy P3 brake controller for my 4500 lb camping trailer with electric brakes. I found the factory 4 wire harness that plugs in under the dash in the glove box. Does this need to be wired to the P3 brake controller or do you sell a wire kit that has the ACURA to Prodigy connector? Does the honda one fit?

To connect the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part # 90195, to your 2009 Acura MDX you will need to hardwire the included pigtail wiring harness directly to the factory four wire harness that plugs into your factory brake controller port. The wires will connect color to color, red to red, blue to blue, black to black, and white to white. The Honda wiring harness will not work.
I do not have a brake controller wiring harness available for a 2009 Acura MDX that will plug into a factory brake controller port on the vehicle and plug into the Prodigy P3 brake controller.
I would also recommend to check the 7-Way and 4-Way connector on your vehicle to make sure it is connected and working properly and to also check to see if any fuses will be needed for your tow package setup.
I am including a link to a FAQ page on brake controllers.
