Troubleshooting the Alpena Trailblaze Tailgate LED Lights Part # ALP77229
Question:
I purchased this tailgate light strip at AutoZone I installed the item it works fine with the lights off but there's a problem when I turn the lights on it keeps my turn signals on when I hit the signal as well the both flash what could be the cause of this issue.

It sounds to me like you have either a shorted wire or ground problem on your vehicle's 4-way trailer connector. Before you begin to check for frayed wires or an improper ground you will first want to check both ends of the trailer connector to ensure they are free of dirt/debris. Once you have established the connectors are clean you will then want to ensure the trailer connector is receiving power. To do this I recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
You can then have a friend sit inside the vehicle and activate each of the circuits on the back of the 4-way using the circuit tester as they are applied. If there is an error in this method, you will then want to trace each wire back to its location checking for breaks or frays. Once completed you will also want to ensure the ground wire is securely attached to a bare metal surface.
If none of these steps work the Alpena Trailblaze Tailgate LED Lights part # ALP77229 may be faulty and will need to be replaced.
