How to Use Hitch Cargo Carrier and Bike Racks Simultaneously on 2017 Honda HR-V
Question:
Hi, I have a 1.25 Inch hitch with a 1.25 - 2 inch adapter on my 2017 Honda hr v. I need to have 2 hookups available to carry my bike rack and cargo carrier. Im currently using a single port 1.25 - 2 inch adapter and switch my carrier and bike rack as needed but im going on a trip and will need both to go with me. Is this possible ?

There are dual-receiver hitch adapters such as # D-192 that can provide two receiver openings for using two 2-inch hitch-mounted items at once but no such items are made to fit the light-duty Class I hitches made for your 2017 Honda HR-V. Even this 2-inch item cannot be used for two carriers (bike and cargo); only the top receiver can be used for a carrier and the bottom one only for towing a trailer or for using a vehicle tow bar. Even if you could use an adapter the issue is that any such item reduces the hitch's tongue weight capacity by HALF. This means the hitch that was rated for 200-lbs suddenly has only a 100-lb weight rating.
There is no way to transport two different 2-inch accessory carriers in the hitch on your HR-V.
The way for you to have the maximum carrying capacity is to use a directly-compatible 1-1/4-inch Class I cargo carrier in your hitch and carry the bikes on the vehicle's roof using a roof rack and roof-rack-mount bike carriers. Class I hitch carriers are shown on the linked page, such as # C18145 from Curt.
This Curt carrier weighs only 29-lbs which means that when used directly in your Class I hitch you would be able to load cargo up to a weight of 171-lbs (200 - 29 = 171).
Roof racks for your HR-V are shown on the linked page. Bike carriers that mount on roof racks are shown on the other linked page. If you are interested in this option please tell me a bit about the bikes, how many and their type, and I will be glad to offer recommendations that are within your budget.
