To adapt your current 4-way flat trailer connection to a 7-way using the Curt Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole w/Test Lamps # C57674, you will also need to use the wiring kit for brake controller # 5506. This will give you a complete set-up like the # ETBC7 except with the added test light functions. The remaining wires on the Curt connector will be ground (white), 12V power (black), brake controller output (blue), and reverse lights (yellow).
Then you will simply need to add a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This brake controller will give you trailer braking at the same time and with the same amount of force as you hit your brake pedal in your tow vehicle. This controller has a really nice LCD screen that makes it easy to understand and take code deciphering out of the equation. It is a great controller that is able to be used with electric or electric-over-hydraulic systems on a boat trailer.
