Recommended Trailer Mounting Location for Prodigy RF Brake Controller
Question:
Im having difficulty finding a suitable place to mount the power module on my trailer. I was wondering if it would be possible to bolt a steel plate to the riser that the winch is attached to, and then fasten the power module to that plate? See attached photo. The red box approximates where the plate would be fastened. Theres just enough clearance for the winch handle to keep from coming in contact with the power module. Do you think this would work? The trailer is a Baxley GT2000.

Thank you for the photo of your trailer's tongue area.
The Prodigy RF Brake Controller # TK94FR can be mounted in any of several points on a typical a-frame trailer. The diagram I linked shows you the preferred location on the outside of the driver-side frame rail, as well as alternates. These other acceptable mounting points include a jack/winch mount, as shown. You could certainly bolt a plate to the winch post if you prefer and mount the RF there.
It is important that the control box be oriented with the cable toward the tow vehicle, as shown.
