How to Attach a 12 Volt Battery to Two 6 Volt Batteries Wired in Series
Question:
I have a trailer with an onboard generator. Onan 5500. I require the 12 volt battery with crank amp to start the generator, but would like the 2 6 volt to run the camper. I would like to charge all batteries using the camper. Can I run the 2 6 Volt in series and attach the 12 volt to the series? Would the inverter/converter in the camper than charge all 3 batteries? I thought I heard you are unable to connect 6 and 12 volt batteries together for RV use. Am I mistaken. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I attached a diagram that shows how to connect a 12 volt battery to two 6 volt batteries wired in series so that the output is 12 volts.
