To adapt your 1-1/4 inch hitch, you'll need a hitch adapter like the Brophy 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch reciever, part # HTAD. This will expand the size of your receiver to 2 inches, but cut your available tongue weight by 50%.
To avoid this, you can search the replacement parts here on etrailer.com to see if they offer a 1-1/4 inch replacement shank and mast kit for your bike rack, allowing you to reassemble the bike rack onto the smaller shank and avoid having to use an adapter. I've included a link to the parts, but if you let me know what rack you have, I can directly recommend the right parts.
I recommend checking your vehicle's owner's manual or the load labeling on the hitch itself to ensure your new weight limits when using this part.
