How to Tighten Insert for DeeZee Tailgate Assist on 2014 Ford F-150
Question:
Received tailgate assist yesterday and started to install this morning adjusted nutsert as suggested and dropped the blind nut and after 9 turns it did not tighten up and the nutsert come out. What can I do to correct this. I had concerns after seeing a video on You Tube about the blind nut not fitting properly as the hole in the tailgate was larger than the blind nut .

Helpful Expert Reply:
The installation details for the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System # DZ43200 does recommend tightening the insert 9 times, however it is not a requirement. Often it will require more than this for it to be tight enough.
I recommend simply continuing to tighten the insert until it has expanded enough for a tight and secure fit.
If you are still having issues, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
