Carrying an Electric Bike on a 2017 Mazda 3 Hatchback

I am trying to find the best bike rack that will hold the weight of one eBike on a 2017 Mazda 3 hatchback. I dont want to get a hitch as this is a lease. Thank you for your help.

Trunk mount bike racks do not have a high enough weight capacity to carry an electric bike so really the only option is a trailer hitch. Unless your eBike weighs 35 pounds or less that is. If it does only weigh 35 pounds or less then you could potentially use a trunk mount rack such as # TH910XT.

There is no drilling required to install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24914 on a 2017 Mazda 3 hatchback which means the vehicle doesn't have to be modified and thus will not affect the vehicle lease. You can run this by the dealer through which the vehicle is leased to verify.

With a hitch installed you can then use Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount Item # SA4412B which has a single bike capacity of 60 pounds.
