To install your Li'l Rocker hitch, you'll need an installation kit for your truck that includes the base rails that install inside your truck bed as well as the brackets that install beneath it. I recommend the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP30035. This kit is confirmed to work with RBW Li'l Rocker hitches.

This is a universal kit, so it will require some drilling. If you'd like to send me the year, make, and model of your truck, I'd be happy to check if there's a custom kit available to you for a simpler installation. Also note that there are some Dodge Ram models that are incompatible with the universal kits, so if you have a Dodge Ram truck, I recommend using our fit guide to ensure the universal kit will work with your vehicle.

I've included some links for you, including the installation instructions, a review video of the installation kit, and two installation videos on a 2002 Dodge Ram and a 2002 Ford F-250. I've also attached a brief article that includes some information about installing a fifth wheel hitch.

I have a 98 GMC with a utility bed and was wondering if there is a special kit for that

If the utility bed on your GMC is similar to a standard flat bed, you would need to install a more customized setup. Standard base rails won't fit with the frame rails. You could use something like the Reese Low Profile Hitch # RP30054, which is designed for this type of application. Mounting would require that a 1/2" thick steel plate be welded to brackets that are bolted to the frame. You can find more detailed info on this by pulling up the install manual on the product page.
