Best Roof Rack for 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

Question:

Curious if anyone has tried to fit third party crossbars from either Thule on 2018 VW Atlas. Thules Aeroblade Edge 750x series is the recommended option on Thules website. It seems as though the Atlas has very similar crossbars if not the same to the Audi Q7. The recommended option for the Q7 is the Aeroblade 760x series. Im wondering if these would fit the Atlas even though these are made for flush rails rather then raised rails. Reason why its relevant because Im not sure the sunroof would open with the 750x series or any of the Yakima low profile bars. Anyone that can help here?

I contacted Thule to verify the correct fits for the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas.

Thule does not recommend opening the sunroof with any crossbars installed, as it may cause damage to the crossbars or the sunroof's motor and glass.

With the Thule Aeroblade Edge, part # TH7504-TH7504, you will not be able to use the sunroof, but the quick install and removal of these blades may make up for that. These bars ratchet to your existing siderails and can be removed quickly when not in use.

Thule however does recommend a system which offers the same styling and benefits of the AeroBlade Edge in a multi-part system that keeps the quick install and removal features, while giving more clearance to the sunroof because of including mounting feet that raise the roof rack above the factory rails. Again, be careful opening the sunroof and be aware of how the crossbars will affect the wind that enters the vehicle. This kit consists of:

- Thule Raised Rail Feet, part # TH710401
- Thule 53" WingBars, part # TH711400

The WingBars are also available in black, as part # TH711420.

These feet do not come with lock cores, but a 4 pack is available as part # TH450400.
