How to Replace a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1997 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a 1997 f250 4wd 7.5 gas. My factory 7pin plug needs replacing. I was looking at the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector 20023. Will this work?

The 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector part # 20023 is an exact Replacement for O.E.M. USCAR Connectors. If you have this connector under the rear of your vehicle, then yes, it will work for you.

If you do not have this plug-in, you will want to use the Hopkins Endurance 7-Way Trailer Connector Socket part # HM48480 as this will allow you to simply cut the existing 7-way off and attach the wires to the back of the new connector using the provided wiring terminals.

If you wish to have both 7 and 4-way trailer connectors on the rear of the vehicle, you will want to use the the 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring part # HM40975-11998 which will require you to match the corresponding wires from the vehicle to the connector.

While installing either of the hardwired trailer connectors, you will need to use a circuit tester like part # ALL640595 to ensure the proper connections are being made.

I have included a review video for each of these trailer connectors for you.
