Can Bigger Equalizers be Used on a Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

HI I have a 2011 Outback 210rs travel trailer with factory install equa-flex. I want to replace these and I have a fitment question. Using the diagram on the page for this part, I compared it to the equa-flex on the trailer and some of the measurements did not match your example. The distance marked as 4 1/8inch on the diagram measures as 3 1/2inch on my part. The distance marked 5 1/2inch on the diagram measures 4 1/2 on my part. The distance on the diagram marked 6inch measures 5 1/2inch on my part. Will LC 279687 work as a replacement? Or is there another part that is closer to my original part? It seems to me that none of these variances are deal breakers. Also what is the difference between the yellow and chrome versions of this part? Thanks

Even though the measurements that you have are slightly shorter than what is on the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279687 that you referenced, it will be okay to replace your current equalizers with this part. You will simply want to use shorter shackle straps to compensate for the difference.

To upgrade your hardware kit I recommend the Never Fail Tandem Axle Suspension Upgrade Hardware Kit for Double Eye Springs # LC281285. This kit includes the Never Fail bushings which never need to be greased!

Also, there is no difference in the yellow and zinc plated versions of the Equa-Flex systems. It is merely a design change that Lippert Decided to undergo.
