Recommended High-Low Adapter To Get Cargo Carrier Away From Exhaust On 2006 Volvo XC90
Question:
I have a Vovo 2006 XC 90. I recently bought a hitch that you weld or screw on the axel of the car .and a cargo rack to put luggage on. It worked great. However my exhaust was to close to my luggage and smoldered all my clothes and suitcase. I need something to lift it the cargo carrier up higher so it is not so close to the exhaust. I have seen on other SUV this attachment but not sure what it is called. Can you help me with this.

It sounds like you are looking for a high-low adapter like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 6" Rise/Drop - 6K GTW, 200 lbs TW # RM-076 to get your cargo carrier away from your exhaust pipe. This type of adapter will only work if you have a 2 inch hitch receiver on your Volvo. I've attached a link to your options.
If you have a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver, then no adapter will work. However, you may want to consider a carrier with a built in rise in the shank like the 20x47 Tow Ready Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs # 63155.
