How to Pick Spindle Drop, Lift or Straight for Timbren Axle Less System
Question:
I want to replace my tandem axle boat trailers existing 4inch axles with the 3500# Timbren axle less susp. system. The trl. frame is for a flat bottomed boat consisting of 6inch tall by 3 1/2inch wide marine grade aluminum I-beam frame construction. The Timbren system would be secured to this frame configuration. My question is what would be the appropriate spindle for this application - 4inch , straight or 4inch lift.

The style of spindle needed will be determined by what height would work the best. The drop spindles of # A35RD545 will put the axle center 1/4 inch below the bottom of the trailer frame. The 4 inch lift part # ASR35HDS02 will have that distance at 7-5/16 inch.
The straight spindle part # A35RS545 will have that dimension right at 4 inches. I attached a diagram of this kit that shows the spindle height of 4 inches.
