Converter Recommendation to Go from Truck 4-Way to Trailer 7-Way

Question:

Love your website! I have a Fleetwood camper with a standard 7-pin, female, connector. My truck was severely damaged in an accident and I am renting a U-Haul pickup for several camping trips. They tell me it has a 4-pin receptacle on the back of the truck. I have been looking for a simple converter. While converters for 4-pin trailers to 7-pin vehicles are common, the reverse does not seem to be true. Your product ... 30717 ...looks like t will do the trick If so, do I really need to connect the ground wire to the rental truck? All I need are lights no 12v power or brakes. Is there simpler option?

For converting from a 4-way on a vehicle to a 7-way on a trailer the part # 30717 is the correct adapter to use. For just taillight functions you would not need to also run the extra ground wire. All you'd need to do is attach the two 4-ways together.
