When Does MaxxTow Hitch Adapter MT70066 Reduce Hitch Capacity

Question:

Why do your duel receiver hitches say they reduce tongue weight capacity by 50 and the max tow still allows for accessories like a bike rack butdoes not reduce tongue weight capacity?

At one point the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Adapter part # MT70066 was listed as not cutting the capacity of the hitch it is installed in, but now we know that if you use the top hitch opening with an accessory you do cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. So when used as a standard ball mount the capacity is normal, but with the top hitch opening used the capacity is reduced.
