Solution For B and W Companion Slider Hitch that Hits Tailgate of Truck When Slid Back

Question:

I have a 2017 4 door short wheel base dodge 2500 diesel truck. When I slide the hitch back for parking the trailer hitch hits my tail gate. I have a 37foot open range 5th wheel. The trailer is level when hitched up. I could raise the bandw hitch but the trailer probably wont set level and or maybe put to much wgt on the rear wheels on the trailer. I could cut part of the trailer neck off but dont want to do that. Im stuck please give me some advice. Thanks

Since you said you have a B and W Companion hitch # BWRVK3400 there is a way to get more clearance between the tailgate of the truck and the hitch. The arms that hold the head of the hitch can be moved forward and back.

If you take a look at the diagram I attached you can see the various setting that can be used.

What you can do is move the head of your hitch further forward and you'll have more clearance.
