Recommendation For Reducing Sag On A 2016 Land Rover Evoque Towing 2,000 lb Enclosed Cargo Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 Land Rover Evoque with a 3,000 lbs weight capacity and 350 tongue weight capacity. I will be towing a 2,000 lbs enclosed cargo trailer and need something like this to prevent some of the sag. Im just not sure if this would be recommended for my small SUV. Also, is there any issue using with the a hitch adapter? The received on my SUV is 1.25inch and I assume I would need a 1.25inch to 2inch receiver adapter. Thanks.

There is not a weight distribution system that is compatible with a Class II hitch like you currently have on your 2016 Land Rover Evoque. I recommend upgrading your trailer hitch receiver to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13128 confirmed to fit your vehicle and compatible with a weight distribution system like the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # 66557 which would be a great system for you. This is an easy bolt on installation and the hitch receiver is rated for 600 lb tongue weight.

An expander will not work for a weight distribution system as it actually reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50%. This is the exact opposite of what you are looking to accomplish.

The combination of a Class III hitch and the weight distribution system is my recommendation to reduce the sag you are experiencing and allow you level transporting of your trailer.
