How To Wire A Under 80 Light Kit On A Over 80 Trailer LED
Question:
So Ive been looking to upgrade my trailer lights to all LED. I dont want to use the Over 80inch light kit because I dont like the big bulky reflector box that sticks out of the side on the square style lights. In order to be legal I can use the under 80inch square light kit as long as I add a red clearance light onto the fender is that correct? Ive read this would be how to do it. Or would I need to use the Over 80inch square set that has the big bulky block sticking out of the side of it and a red clearance on the fender? Basically the difference between over and under 80inch square light kits is just that big square box sticking off the side of it. If I use the Over 80inch square with that block on the side I wouldnt have to add the red clearance light on the fender because its built into the tail light correct? Also if you have a wiring diagram for wiring a under 80inch kit on a over 80inch trailer showing how to wire in that red marker that would be awesome

What you are looking to do would be totally fine. You can use the smaller trailer taillights on an over 80 inch wide trailer as long as you do all of the other needed clearance lights as well.
So you could use the part # TLL9RK but then would just need to add the clearance lights like part # 47-99-006 and you'd be good.
