Comparison of the Tekonsha P3 and P2 Brake Controllers for Use in a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

In a 2010, Ram, 2500 heavy duty....is there any advantage to the P2 or the P3 brake controller? What are the main differences?

The major differences between the P2 brake controller, item # 90885 and the P3 brake controller, item # 90195, are that there is a 3 axis accelerometer in the P2 vs 1 axis in the P3. This means that the P2 has a greater range of mounting positions than the P3, which probably is not an issue in the 2010 Dodge truck. The P3 has more display capabilities and better fault detection.
Basically, the P2 is a bit easier to use for those who are towing the same trailer, with about the same load, consistently, like travel trailers. The P3 is better for those who are towing a trailer with differing loads and empty at times, like a builder or contractor, since the functions for these settings are easier to access and setup for each change that needs to be made to the brake controller settings.
Either brake controller will function great in either of the above situations, it is just a bit easier once the settings are learned for users to set the P3 up for different load conditions.
